BENZINE VAPOUR IGNITED, INCIDENT AT TE KUITI. ;BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT,] TE KUITI, Thursday. An explosion occurred on the premises of Mr. W. I/. Lincoln, plumber, Te Kuiti, yesterday, when the vapour in an empty benzine drum several feet away was ignited by the flame of a blow-lamp. The drum, which had been left in the shop by a customer for a tap to be fitted, contained no visible trace of benzine, and was standing on the floor about 12ft, away from the lamp. Mr. Lincoln, and his nieco were both in the shop when the drum exploded with a deafening report, shattering all the windows and igniting a portion of one wall of the building. The flames were soon extinguished, and no further damage was done. The two occupants of the shop luckily escaped injury.
