ENGLISH DESPATCH TO-NIGHT

LAST DIRECT OPPORTUNITY. The mail which will close in Auckland this evening will afford the last opportunity of sending to Britain by direct mail before Christmas the (. liristmas Number of tho Auckland V> eekly News. A specially-addressed .mail for Britain, Ireland and the .Continent will be despatched by the liner lamaroa, which w. 11 leave here at daybreak tomorrow for Southampton am! T-onrlon. That, mail is due to reach London on December 16. As a popular and appropriate form of greeting to friends overseas, the Auckland Weekly News Christmas Number continues to hold an unrivalled place. While the publishers have always succeeded in maintaining an exceedingly high standard of illustration, it is generally recognised that this year's issue is the most perfect they have ever produced. Hundreds of unsolicited testimonials have been received already from correspondents in many quarters who could not refrain from expressing their admiration of the beauty and the interest of tho scenes depicted. As a source of information to distant friends who have never visited New Zealand it is more effective than a shelf full of textbooks.
