MAIN TRUNK MISHAP.
DERAILMENT OF WAGGON
LIMITED EXPRESSES DELAYED
The derailment of a waggon attached to a goods train between Waiuru and Hihitahi, south of Ohakune, caused the Main Trunk railway to lie blocked for nearly three hours early yesterday morning. The limited express from Wellington to Auckland was delayed ami did not arrive in Auckland until 12.7 p.m.. instead of 9.40 a.m. The south-bound limited express was delayed about, an hour. The two ordinary expresses were not affected. The mishap occurred to a train which leaves Ohakune for Taihape daily at 10.45 p.m. The waggon, filled with coal, was dragged for nearly half a mile before the trouble, due to a broken axle, was noticed. Slight damage was done to the track. The section in which the mishap occurred is in an isolated area. It was necessary to tip the coal from the waggon, jack the waggon clear and make an examination of the track before the expresses could proceed.
