NEW ZEALAND SUCCESSES. MINTAGE SCORES A WIN. [from our OWN- correspondent.] SYDNEY, Nov. 5. The Wellington trainer A. D. "Webster picked lip some easy money for Mr. H. Stanbridge nl Moorefield on Saturday, Movio Star and Hunt Ihe Slipper winning the divisionß of the Three-year-old Handicap, in which they were the top-weights. Both wero ridden by T. Webster, who had "armchair" "w?" D. Moroney had a tilt at the second-grade sprinters and the ring with Tenterden at Moorefield on Saturday. Tenterderi had top-weigllt, 8.12, and was ridden by T. Webster. For playing up at (he start he was sent to the oulside, nut lie began smartly and was soon out forcing the pace with the light-wciglit Dogwood. He hung out badly on the turn and his rider was swinging on one rein to keep him "on the course." It was not surprising. therefore, to find him beaten into third place by Rcmora, and Calendo. Tenterden should be better suited by the bigger courses tit Rosehill and Randwick. Vertigern, who had 9.3 in the Moorefield Handicap, was also ridden by Webster. He. too. was not suited by the course, but it is doubtful if he would have won anyway, for he had not done a great deal of work sine© racing at Canterbury Park a week earlier. Vertigern was solidly backed in the principal evert at Rosehill yesterday, but with 9.2 failed to gain a place. Grecian is still backward and requires a. bit of time yet. As all three horses are being kept, well up in the weights, Moroney may not win more than his share in Sydney. The Catmint —Lady Penury gelding Mintage is showing promising form again. Ho scored well at Rosehill yesterday. Stormy now looks like a light of other days. He has finished last in each of his races lately. , , . . , Ring Boy has not struck his real form yet, and is corning down in the weights for' one or two failures. He will give a middle distance or welter field something to do very shortly. R. O'Donnell is stepping alonpr tho two-year-okl half-sister to Balloon Kins. Barb alar a. She is a. very neat filly and should soon give O'Donnell an ovorduo win. Gesture and Lavington are both working well at Randwick. Gesture sprinted smartly yesterday, but later in the day raced indifferently at Rosehill. A D Webster's filly, Bonnie .Tune, had to put up with second place again at Rosehill yesterday. She has run threo times for two seconds and a third. Yesterdays winner, Nef. had all the best of the start, while Bonnie June began slowly. T Webster had an exasperating day yesterday. He had six rides for three seconds and two thirds. One of the thirds was on Bay aero, who was a pronounced favourite for the 'Flying Handicap. For playing lip at the barrier, Bayaero was sent to the outside. He was also left two or threo lengths'. There is no doubt that this cost him the race. Ho was backed on the streivlh of a. good trial with Movie Star. Auda, and Crown Area had their first outj ngs ye&terday after spells. I3otii are a ; trifle 'backward, ' J
