FANCY-DRESS BALL.

OTAHUHU PLUNKET SOCIETY. The interior of the Otahuhu Public Hall was a veritable fairyland for the children attending the Otahuhu Plunket Society's annual fancy dress ball, held on Friday evening. 'J he bright decorations of streamers, balloons and flowers, the vivid and varied liued costumes of the children and the presence of Father Christmas with innumerable gifts for all, combined to make the function a great success. Over 100 children attended in fancy dress anJ the judges, Mesdames A. E. Rhind, W. Massey, A. G. Grinter and J. Holmden, had a difficult task in awarding the prizes. The winners were: —Most original, girls over seven, Doreen Kent-Johnston (Old English); boys, over seven, Russell Milligan (Captain Blood); girls, under seven, Audrey Trenwith (Samples); boys, under seven, Kenneth R. Deas (Jack-iri-box); fancy dress, girls under three, Sylvia McKelvie (Mickey Mouse); girls under seven, Sylvia Boyd (Irish Girl); girls over seven, Elsie Boniface (Hat-maker's Dream); boys, under three, Noel Nelson (Parson); under seven, E. Littler (David Copperfield); over seven, D. Jackson (Nelson); specials, Nola Hanford (Seeds); Ruth Roberts (Rhubarb); V. Drurnm (Babv Pink). Items were given bv June McLaren (dances), Gert'e Ellis (recitations), Standard 111. girls (country dance), Miss Moore's pupils (chorus dance), Thelma College (Highland dances), Misses Downey (recitations). The children occupied the floor until 9.30, when they were served with supper and the dance continued by the adults to music provided by Mrs. Gillies and Messrs. Dinnison and Avers. Bouquets were presented to Mrs. A. Murdoch, president of the society, the Mavorcss. Mrs. H. T. Clements, and the ladies acting as judges. The programme was directed by Mr. A. Murdoch, headmaster of the school. At the interval the Mayor, Mr. 11. T. Clements, thanked the executive of the society for their good work throughout the year.
