NEW DILWORTH SCHOOL.
CONSTRUCTION POSTPONED. DIFFICULTY OVER FINANCE. A docision to postpone the erection of tho new buildings of tho Dilworth School at Wiri was reached by the Dilworth Trust Board at a meeting yesterday. It, was emphasised by the chairman, Archdeacon G. Mac Murray, that this action involved only tho delay, and not tho abandonment, of the project. The board had accumulated a school building reserve fund which it considered to be adequate for tho purpose of building the new school. Unfortunately, nearly half of tho fund had been invested in mortgages and, under tho present circumstances, it was not possible to turn this asset into cash. If, was felt that the board could not take the risk of incurring a largo liability without seeing clearly how it could be liquidated. The decision was regretted as the board desired to extend the benefits of the school to a, larger number of boys. Employment would have been provided at a time when it was required, but the board was not prepared to undertake a contract without tho certainty of being able to realise its assets. The. new school is to be constructed at a cost not exceeding £BO,OOO on a property of 150 acres, on the Great South Road, 15 miles from Auckland. Under the plans of the architect, Mr. IT. E. White, of Sydney, accommodation will be provided for ISO pupils.
