INFLUENZA CASES.
DISEASE MOVING SOUTH. NORTH ISLAND IMPROVES. No indication of any general improvement in the influenza position is contained in the returns of pneumonic influenza for tho past week, for the total number of cases throughout the Dominion shows an increase when compared with those for tho preceding seven days. A detailed analysis of tho figures, however, reveals that the bulk of tho cases are now being reported from the South Island, whereas in its early stages the epidemic was almost solely confined to tho North Island. The incidence of tho disease, it would seem, is therefore moving from north to south. The Dominion total of cases of pneumonic influenza for tho week ended noon on Monday numbers 30, while deaths from the complaint totalled eight. For the previous week there were 25 cases and 10 deaths.
