NUT GRASS.
Sir, —A lot of unnecessary fuss is mitd® about destroying nut grass. A strong solution of salt brine kills it effectually. Anyone interested in the practical results of that policy rtiay see them by inspecting tho front and side, of my factory in Cascade Street. R. H. Johnson. Sir,—Regarding Mr. Fuller's letter in Wednesday's Herald, I have been watching with interest an experiment by the City Council on an asphalt path in the Ponsonby district. There was a very lieal!hy patch of nut grass there breaking up tho surface of the path. They made holes in tho path with a crowbar, poured in some liquid and then filled the holes with sand. _ This was nine months ago and there is yet no sign of growth and tho treatment appears to be quite successful. If a specific has been discovered to deal with this pest, it will be a source of satisfaction to many gardeners. Interested.
