HAMILTON BOROUGH.
MUNICIPAL OFFICES SCHEME. ADVERSE MOTION DEFEATED. [FROM our own correspondent. ] HAMILTON, Thursday. A motion to rescind tho recent decision to erect new municipal offices and to set up a committee to report on tho various sites offering was moved by Mr. C. Lafferty at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last evening. Mr. Lafferty raised objection to the site chosen in Alma Street on the ground that congestion of traffic would result and that the building would not be in a central position. He also expressed his dissatisfaction with tho council's decision to proceed with the work without consulting tho ratepayers. After lengthy discussion the motion was lost. It was decided to adopt a system of parking motor-cars at an angle of 30 degrees to the kerb in Victoria Street. It was decided to write to the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. D. Jones, urging him to expedite a decision regarding municipal abattoirs.
