TE PUKE.

Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Simpson were given a surprise party at the Bank of New Zealand, To Puke, by their young friends recently. Mr. Jackson, of the staff of the Bank of Australasia, acted as spokesman, and expressed the regret of those present at tho impending departure of Mr. and Mrs. Simpson. Mr. Simpson made a brief speech in reply. Among those, present were: Mcsdames Ball, Wilson, W. Wickham, D. Wickham, Misses Place, Cooney, Burkett, Dyer, Wilkie, G. Downs, W. Downs, B. Wilson, N. Riddell, I. Wilkine, U. Black, E. Ilowell, B. Howell. Mrs. Bain and Mrs. Wilkie were hostesses at a bridge evening in honour of Mrs. G. T. Simpson, who is leaving shortly for Auckland. The evening was held in the Lyceum Clyb rooms, which were decorated with bowls of spring (lowers. Prize-winners were Mrs. W. Wickham, Mrs. Twigg and Miss Watson. Mrs. Bain wore a deep wine red crepe satin frock, and Mrs. Wilkie wore pale pink satin beaute. The guest of honour wore beige lace and georgette. Those present were: Mesdames Dickson, Butcher, Granger, Twigg, Knight, Hookey, Manning, Carpenter, Gibbings, Webster, Mends, D. Wickham, Perring, Mcßae, 11. Wickham, Vercoc, Wilson, Oawte, W. Wickham, Booker, Mander, Ball, Cashmore, Wilsone, Bain, Wilkie, Misses Bush, Rogers, Watson and Jamieson
