RUSSIA'S LARGE DEBT.
SUM OWING TO BRITAIN. MR. SNOWDEN'S CAUSTIC REMARK LONDON. Sept. OS. In reply to a question in the House of Commons by Mi'. E. F. Wise, Labour member for East Leicester, as to the extent of the national debt, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. .Snowdtjn, said:— " £1.000,000.000 is owing to us from Russia. Nobody would render a greater service to the country than Mr. Wise if he were to induce his Bolshevik friends to pay a year's interest on it.
