LADIES' HOCKEY.
CHAMPIONSHIP TO WESLEY. In' spite oi the doubtful conditions early tm Saturday the weather cleared for the afternoon and allowed the continuation of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association's competitions. The prevalence of influenza placed most teams in difficulties, many of them being minus one, two and < |Vr, n more players. In the intermediate, grade no games were played, Wesley and "Technical allowing their opponents tn win by default. The senior grade games played were 'those m the final round of the championship, and as a rosuk. Wesley was permitted to retain its unbeaten record for the season, winning the championship for the fourth year :n succession. Wesley had a lead of 9 points from Somerviile, Clevedon and Mount Eden, which three teams ar e bracketed as runners-up with 14 points each. As a result of the default in the interBiediate grade Ngaro gained the championship with a total of 23 points. Papakura beintr second, with 13. In the junior grade, the first round cf the knockout championship was decided, Clevedon, , fmi and Wesley being the winners, while / ilount Eden had the bye. The second round of games in the iumor jpade knock-out championship will be played on Saturday and the first round of 'the knock-out competitions in the senior ifcnd intermediate grades will be commenced.
