HARBOUR BOARD STAFF.

NO INCREASED SALARIES. HOLIDAY LEAVE LIMITED. A decision not to grant increases in the salaries of the staff in any department was reached by tho Auckland Harbour Board at a meeting yesterday afternoon. The action was taken on the recommendation of the board in committee, the questions of salaries and holiday allowances for the year 1931-32 having been considered at a special meeting. In arriving at its decision, the board agreed that the question could be reopened at the end of the half-yearly period if the economic situation called for a review of the position. A recommendation that no officer of the board should receive more than two weeks' annual leave on pay was adopted. This scale has been customary, but exceptions have been made previously in tho cases of certain employees.
