THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FIRMER LEVELS SUSTAINED. Improved conditions were maintained on the Auckland ffcuck Exchange when it reopened yesterday after a long weekend owing to the Dominion Day holiday on Monday. Fair business was done and some further gains were recorded in industrial stocks. Lcwels in the gilt-edged section were renewed on practically the same basis as Satuaday's closing prices, but inquiry was ovar a more limited range. Dealing tocjk place in 1933 4j per cent. Inscribed Stock for the first time since the middle of August and the price realised, £93 ss, was £2 below the previous level. A fall of 7s 6d was registered by 1937 SJ; per cent. New Zealands were dooe 6d better at 435, and 43s 6d was forthcoming for more, which were held for 445. Inquiry for New South Wales wae unchanged and was firmer for Nationals of New Zealand and Cnion3. A widej* range of insurance investments also had inquiry at steady prices. There was a fairly marked revival of interest in loan and agemcy scrip. Golds-brough-Morts were again wanted at par without any requirements being satisfied, sellers asking 225. In coals Pukemiros made unchanged rates al 28s fid.. Inquiry was renewed for New Zealand Breweries on the firmer ba«sis of 295, sellers asking 30s 3d. General investments were a little quieter. . British Tobaccos had support Is better at 225, which was met with a tion of 245. Firm offetrs of £32 for Colonial Sugars attracted a reduced selling quotation of £oo. Firm levels ' for WaihiS provided _ the feature of the mining section. Business was done unchanged at 16s Id and for Grand Junctions a penny more was paid at 4s Id. Mount Lyells registered an improvement of 2d in a deal at 16s 9d, at which price mere were available.
