POST OFFICE WANTED.

TAKAPUNA BUSINESS AREA. A petition is being widely signed in Takapuna asking for the establishment at Hall's/Comer of a post office on a nonpermanent basis. The petition asks that provision should be made for the sale of postal notes, the installation of a telephone for bureau calls, and facilities for the despatch and delivery of telegrams and mail matter. The request, which is to he forwarded to the Postmaster-General. is made upon the grounds that the present facilities do not adequately meet the needs of the district. The present post' office is situated at Earnceh Avenue, which is practically equidistant between the Milford shopping centre and the Strand, the business centro of the borough. A request made by residents of Takapuna recently for the removal of the post office to a more central position at Hall's Corner was refused, on the grounds uf expense.
