The Avondale Jockey Club's bad luck vith the weather persisted yesterday when the spring meeting was concluded in rain, which made the going very heavy, favourites again had a very bad day, the ~n ] y one to win during the two days |>ein? Prince' In *' lc ' race of the jneetinp.
The feature cf the day was the defeat of the Avondale Guineas favourites Bronze Eagle and Croupier, neither of whom secured a place. Victory went to View Halloo, owned by Mr. Eussell Grace, of Wanganui, and trained by the veteran F. Tilley, while King Colossus, from Palmcrston North, was second. The totalisator handled £15.672 10s, compared with £26,015 on the second day last year, making the total for (ho meeting £34,185, against £63,676, a decrease of £23,491, or 46 per cent. Kesults: —
