DETAILS OF REGULATIONS. RETURNS TO BE FURNISHED. Details of the regulations relating to the payment of the unemployment relief tax levied on income other than salaries or wages vare contained in a supplement to the Gazette. Everyone not wholly exempt from liability for the levy must make special returns of all 'income, even though ho may have no income apart from salaries and wages. The regulations state that returns of income shall bo made for the year ended March 31, 1931, and for the year ending March 31, 1932. Decl—r.tions are to be furnished to the secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, but, if in the first declaration the income derived from any source other than salaries or wages is not disclosed, a second declaration is to bo furnished to the Commissioner of. Taxes giving the required ' information. Declarations of incomes for the year ended March 31, 1931, are to be made by November 30, 1931. Returns of income are to be made by women whose income from all sources, including salary and wages, for the year ended March' 31. 1931, or the year ending March 31, 1932, amounts to not less than £250. It is provided in connection with the emergency unemployment charge on income other than salaries and wages that declarations of income for the year ended March 31, 1931, shall, when forwarded to the Commissioner of Taxes, bo accompanied by the amount pf the charge payable in respect of one-third of the amount of such income (exclusive of salary or wages), or, in the discretion of the declarant,' m;iv lie accompanied by the amount of the charge payable in respect of two-thirds of such income. If the charge is paid on only one-third of the income, an equal amount shall be due without further notice or demand on February 1, 1932. Persons failing to, or refusing to, furnish tho required declarations, or who make a false declaration, are liable to tv fine of £SO.
