I saw a little bird upon a tree, And the little bird was singing merrily; But though I listened long For the subject of his song, I couldn't catch a word of it yon see. But oh! it did me good, Though I never understood, For he sang—he sang— so very heartily. I think he meant to tell me, in hig way, ' He sang because his little heart was gay,And wanted me to show All the children whom I know The way a merry heart can cheer.the day Like all good children do, By being kind and true, And singing like the bird upon the spray.
