MIDNIGHT ARREST.

TWO MEN IN A YARD. WARNING BY MAGISTRATE. Pleas of guilty were entered by Sydney John liams, aged 21, when charged in the Police Court yesterday with being found without lawful excuse in the enclosed yard of Winstone, Limited, Newton Road. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that shortly before midnight on Thursday Constable Teece saw the two accused enter the yard. He followed them and found Ball behind a stack of straw. Ball was taken into custody and the constable later discovered Williams lying in an opening which had been made in the straw. Both accused had previously appeared before the Court, and Ball had been debarred from the Auckland City Mission's shelter on account of his bad conduct. Staff-Captain Holmes, of the Salvation Army, and the Rev. C. E. Moreton said accused had not appreciated the help which had been given to them in the past. Both men were lazy and did little work The magistrate. Mr. F. K. Hunt, convicted accused and ordered them to come up for sentence within six months if called upon. He warned them that they would each receive a prison sentence if they failed to take advantage of unemployment relief work offered to them.
