THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. MORE FAVOURABLE TREND. The Auckland Stock Exchange showed a marked reaction to overseas influences yesterday when further sharp rises were recorded in levels for investments directly affected by fluctuations in the metal and produce markets. The gilt-edged market was also activ«f but prices showed a slightly easier trend. Dealing in 1937 5-Jf per cent. Government bonds late on Thursday at the current price of £95 5s was followed with a further transaction yesterday at £95 2s 6d and offers for more were reinstated at £94 15s. Offers also eased to the same level for 1937 5j per cent. Inscribed Stock, which were done late on Thursday 2s 6d firmer at £95 ss. A fail of ,5s wa3 registered for 1933 5j Stock which changed hands at £96 15s. A number of banks had firmer inquiry \nd there were no losses to offset the gains. Commercials of Australia were unaltered at the previous day's rates. Buyers lifted offers 3s to £7 15s for Australasias without response. Nationals of New Zealand mads further headway after being taken slightly firmer late on Thursday at £3 10a 4d, with a subsequent dead at £3 10s 6d„ A recovery of 2d toot place in New Zealands which were done late on Thursday at 42s 3d. Yesterday offers of 42s 6d met with quotations of 435. Better buying support was evident in insurance and there was considerably more inquiry in loan and agency. Steady ground was gained by Goldsbrough-Morts and with another rise of Is 6d in offers to 20s, sellers come into the market at 22s 6cL Auckland Gas made firm rates at 23a • 2d. General investments gained strength, but a sale of Colonial Sugars at £33 showed a decline of 25s on the last sale, which took place on August 4. The first inquiry for Electrolytic Zincs for some time came forward at 8s 6d. Sellers asked 10s. New Zealand Refrigerating 3 (contributing) were done unchanged at 3a 8d and Wilsons Cements were taken late on Thursday at the steady price of 35s 6d. In mining considerably firmer levels for Mount Lyells were cbnfirmed with a transaction at 16s 7d. a rise of 2s 7d over the last few days. Waihi Junctions sold 2d better at 3s lid.
