HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
FAIR TO FINE. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M Vincent last evening:— A moderate high barometric pressure system still coders the Dominion, while an intense westerly storm system is in evidence on the south-west- Tasman Sea. Expect mainly fair to fine weather in most districts, although scattered showers are likely in western areas. Milder tern peratures. South-westerly winds, moder ate to strong, veering to north-west, then freshening. Rough seas on the west coast. Local outlook: Fair to fine, then becoming cloudy and unsettled, with showers developing. Barometer, midnight, steady Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.90 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 62deg.. \ummum. <S6deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT, Ihe Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An anti-cyclone has been advancing gradually on to the Dominion, with its centre to the north west, but pressure has commenced to fall in the far south with (lie approach ot a westerly depression. Indications moderate southerly winds north of New Plvmonth and Castlepoint, changing gradually through the west to northerly elsewhere northerly winds prevailing and freshening Seas smooth to moderate, but rising south of Cape Egmont. Moderate to strong north-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea. Seas modeiate in ie northern portion and becoming rough in the southern. The weather will bo line genera 11 v, with milder temperatures cloud increasing, however, in western am far southern districts of the bouth Island, with showers developing later. „ RAINFALL RECORD.
