WAITOMO POWER BOARD.
[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE KUITI, Thursday. As a result of a recent conference between the Waitomo and Wairere Power 'Boards, there appears little likelihood of the proposed amalgamation taking place. Although still favourable to the proposal, no further action was decided on by the F T a itomo Board at its last meeting. A general discussion took place on the question of reduced charges to consumers. One member urged that with a view to assisting in making this possible, action should be taken to secure a reduction in overhead charges, particularly interest. It was further considered that some consideration should be givdii country power boards by the Public Department, in the matter of supply. It was explained that the matter had been, t/wice introduced at conferences so far without result. Country boards were handicapped in that there was usually difficulty in obtaining an industrial demand in respect of the day ioacL
