BUSINESS AT CONFERENCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —I'RF.SS ASSOCIATION.] "WELLINGTON, "Wednesday. The annual conference of South African veterans was opened to-day by tho Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe. Captain J. J. Clark presided. The Minister said New Zealand had a very distinguished history in the matter of volunteering. In regard to the rehabilitation of ex-soldiers, two vocational officer? had been appointed, and it was hoped that they would get to work soon. Included in the conference business are remits relating to pension matters, a. roniit suggesting that tho Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act bo reopened and that South African veterans be eligible for benefits as recommended by the Rehabilitation Commission, and a remit suggesting the formation of ouo united exservicemen's league.
