' Mr. W. n. Cowper, of Christchurch, is at. the Hotel Cargen. Mr. and Mrs. H. Lewis, of Tauranga, are at the Central Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. (Graham, of New Plymouth, are at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. W. E. Bottomley and Mr. W. F. Nicholls, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. B. Beresford, of Wellington, and Mr. T. 11. Wilson, of Portland, are at the Central Hotel. Mr. H. R. Levick, Mr. W. A. Brown and Mr. R. Park, jun., of Wellington, are at the Star Hotel. Mr. .Justice Ostler, who has born on leave of absence, resumed his judicial duties this week, sitting as a member of the Court of Appeal. Mr. M. Schofield, Mr. B. H. Andrews, Mr. F. B. Hall and Mr. E. F. Peacock© have been elected members of the Hamilton Technical High School Board of Managers. Mr. G. Grey Campbell, of Auckland, is visiting Palmerston North at the invitation of the Borough Council for flic purpose of investigating and reporting upon the municipal undertaking. Rear-Admiral Geoffrey Blake, who is on an official visit to Wellington, is p. guest at Government House. lie will remain until the arrival there of 11.M.5. Diomede next Thursday, in the course of her southern cruise. Lieutenant-Commander R. R. Airey, who is to relieve Lieutenant-Commander Terry as squadron gunnery officer on H.M.S. is a passenger by the Rangitiki, which is due at Auckland oil October 1 from Southampton. Mr. F. W. G. White, M.Sc., a former student of Victoria University College, has been appointed lecturer in physics at King's College, London. Mv. White has been working in the Cavendish Laboratory under Lord Rutherford. Mr. W. Kirby, of Sydney, Mr. J. Rennie, of Christchurch, and Mr. W. J. Blundell, Mr. C! Eskell, Mr. R. Nelson and Mr. I!. W. McVilly, of Wellington, who have been visiting Auckland, left for the South last evening. Dr. John M. L airri, who was surgeon on the steamer Northumberland at the time of the Napier earthquake, and was the first doctor from outside the earthquake area to render assistance in Napier, is conducting a mission for students in Dunedin this week, at the invitation of the Otago University Evangelical Union.
