LADIES' EVENING.

OTAHUHU ORPHANS. The annual ladies' evening arranged by tho Otahuhu Orphans' Club was held in the Gas Company's rooms this week when a large number of members and friends enjoyed a splendid programme. The rooms were tastefully decorated with greenery and bunting, and the supper tables, which extended the full length of the room, were arranged with choice blooms and coloured streamers. A welcome to tho ladies and visitors was extended by tho president of tho club, Mr. A. Mac Donald. Among tho visitors from other clubs were Messrs. SutherlandWilson and G. Heald, of tho Papakura Orphans' Club, and Messrs. W. Rawlinson and G. A. Osborne, of the Onehunga Club. A splendid programme of music was contributed by artists from Auckland. The items were:—Selections by the club orchestra, under tho direction of Mr> W. Beck; Mr. L. Honeycomb, baritone solos; Mrs. F. Fearnley, soprano solos; Mr. C. O'Donohue, violin solos; Mr. F. Woodward, vocal solos; Mr. R. Pawson, 'cello solos; Mrs. 11. Turner, vocal solos; Mr. O. C. Purely, whistling novelty items; Mr. 11. S. Reynolds, vocal solos; Messrs. C. H. and R. Pawson, 'cello duets; and Miss V. Fountain, solos. Tho accompanists were Miss E. Blackburn, Miss E. Moffat, Mrs. J. Gillies, Mr. P. Black and Mr. W. Beck. The evening was continued with a dance programme to music provided by Mrs. Gillies and Miss R. Kennedy. Among thobo present were:—The Mayoress, Mrs. H. T. Clements, Mrs. A. Mrs. ,1. E.
