OBITUARY.
MR. W. R. PENN. i WELL-KNOWN BUSINESS MAN. J The death occurred on Thursday at his J residence, 4, Gardner Road, Epsom, of Mr. William Rainsford Penn, manager for Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited, aged 73 years. Although Mr. Penn had suffered for some time from asthma he was well enough to attend to his business only a fortnight ago. Born in Worcestershire, England, Mr. Tenn followed the profession of civil engineer before coming to New Zealand in 1881. For a time lie was engaged on survey work in the bush in the Taranaki district, and some years later he came to Auckland. Mr. Penn was connected with the 'firm of Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited, for nearly 40 years, being confidential clerk to the late Mr. Alfred Buckland. and to the late !Mr. H. T. Gorrie, before being appointed manager and secretary. At the time of his death Mr. Penn was chairman of the Woolbrokers' Association, and he had also been chairman of the Stock Auctioneers' Association. He was a member of the Epsom Bowling Club, and was formerly president of the Takapuna Bowling Club. Mr. Penn is survived by Mrs. Penn. Thero are four brothers, Mr. A. V. Penn, of Reniucra, who was formerly collector of customs in Auckland, Mr. Harry Penn and Mr. Charles Penn, of Stratford, and Mr. Walter Penn. of New Plymouth, and one sister, Mrs. H. N. Liardet, of Wellington. MRS. F. WATTS. The death has occurred at her home at Te Poi, Matamata, of Mrs. Fanny Watts, at the age of 74 years. Mrs. Watts was born in Lydnev, Gloucestershire, and came to New Zealand ten years ago to settle in the Matamata district with her husband, son and daughter, who took up farming there. Her husband died three years ago. She is survived by a farnily of three sons and one daughter and there are four grandchildren. Mil. CONN SHEEHAN. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWX CORRESPONDENT.] WAIUKU. Friday. The death of Mr. Conn Sheehan, aged 67, occurred at Mount Morgan, Queensland. last week. Mr. Sheehan was educated at the Waiuku school and later was a member of the Waiuku Cavalry, many members of which are still living. As a young man hcv went to Queensland and lie was in the employ of the Mount Morgan Goldmining Company for more than 40 years. Seven years ago, accompanied by a son, he paid a visit to New Zealand, staying with Mr. T. Williams, of Pinedale, Patumahoe, and spending several weeks renewing acquaintance with boyhood friends in the Waiuku district.
