YESTERDAY'S GALLOPS.

WORK ON SODDEN TRACK. CROUPIER'S GOOD DISPLAY. CRICKET BAT AND ZEEBRUGGE. Or telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] A lai-pft l! WANGAN UI. They ran home in 1 5 with Impetuous the best part of a length m front and doing it nicely. It waa a Rood. effort on the part of the pair. Cricket .Bat (J. Barry) and Zeebrnggc J. Kayuer, 0.0) were the next to gallop, the Guineas candidates putting up a very creditable display over six furlongs. They took 13s for the initial furlong and '2Gs for the quarter, three taking 38s and the first-half-mile 5.:?. The last two furlongs found them going easily to register 1.19 '2-5 for the full distance. They were out in the midcllo of the track and were responsible for a pleasing effort. It appeared as if Ciicket Bat would have relished an extra distance. Knollmore and Ridgemount. Kriollmcre (L. G. Morris) and Ttidgemount (boy) jumped off at five furlongs and broke 26s for the first two. furlongs. Then the pace slackened and they took 3S l-5s for three furlongs, Knollniere coming home in 66 4 ss, while Ridgemount's rider again lost an iron and the Leighton gelding took a tick over l3Ss for the distance. It will be interesting to see how the pair fare in their engagements here, for Knollmcre has plenty of weight and Ridgemouut's lack of sprinting ability appears unaccountable. Aston did not have a companion in his five-turloiig effort, the first fast gallop bis owner-trainer has given him recently. He also did the initial quarter in a little under 265, finishing up his task in CO -l-ss. lie blew a good bit on pulling up. Several others aid useful work, including Pedestal and Linoleum, who were sent alonj? at a decent pace on the hurdle track. Rain fell during the breakfast interval, and, as a result, the going was much heavier when the after-breakfast contingent did their fast work. l'osy, one of (J. Jones' juveniles, was assisted by Movietone to run threo furlongs in a tick over 40s. The Chief Ruler filly moves well.

A Nice Effort. Cadland and Laughing Prince were responsible for a nice effort when they covered five furlongs in 65 3-ss, the first three furlongs taking 37s and the last four 535. Neither of the pair is engaged at Wanganui. Cimabue and Ladv Parn were associated in a six-furlongs gallop, taking 1.20 for the full distance. The first quarter took 2Hs and the half-mile 51 l-ss, with Lady Parn doing it best at the finish. Seven fnrlongs was the task entrusted to Cessation and Spear Lad. This took them 1.37 1-5, after they had taken 41s for three furlongs and 68 l-5s for five. Cessation is well, while Spear Lad looks likely to develop into a handy stayer. Consent and Acora were companions over five furlongs, the first-named having his trainer in the saddle. They ran a very fast quarter, taking 24 2-ss, jvhile three furlonss took them 375, and the full distance 1.5 3-5. Consent was the best part of a length ahead at the finish and doing it very well, as the track was appreciably slower at this stage than before the breakfast interval. It was- a good gallop. Korokio, with a light boy up, and St. Roger covered six furlongs in 1.20 3-5. The filly missed the jump out,_'but they were together at five furiongs and ran to the post in GSs, with the first half-mile taking then": 51 2-ss. Korokio was doing it nicely at the finish, although St.. Roger was conceding her a good deal of weight.

Seven Furlongs Covered. Fk.kewhite did better than Psychologist in a gallop over seven furlongs, which they covered in 1.37 2-5. _ The Guineas candidate was rolling a bit at the finish. Croupier (J. Barry) was too good lor Arisus at the end of six furlongs, which distance the Guineas candidate covered m ] 20 He touk 13s for the first furlong, "5 ]-5s for two, 37 l-5s for three and ,50 4-5s for the initial half-mile. Croupier jumped at the crossing and lost ground and then found Arisus unable to bring him along over the final stages. It was an cscellont gallop on bis part. A smart effort over three furlongs was that for which Midinette and GenesU were responsible, Rayner's juveniles taking 13s for the first fjirlong and 39 8-5s for three furlongs. Midinette, daughter oi Motley, was well in front at the finish. Kowhatu and Hymgreat kept fairly well together in a couple of circuits over the battens, jumping five flights altogether. They were joined by Okapua after jumping two A. M. Wright's gelding then went on to complete six, also doing it well. Mcerangi went . twice round on Iso. 1 track at. better than three-quarter pace Work of useful order was allotted to Esteem. Lucky Moment Kozan, Cape Gold. Actason, Landmark, Gay Court, Prince Pombal, Tobaccoland.
