STOCKS AND SHARES.
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. WEAKER TONE OF MARKET. Easier conditions existed on the Auckland Stock Exchajigo yesterday, when a substantial volume of business was transacted at prices which in most cases moved against holders. The downward trend was headed by Government loans. There was a relapse of 12s 6d in the price of 1937 f>i per cent, bonds, which were done at £95. A similar pried secured two parcels of 1937 5£ per cent. Inscribed Stock, which was marked down 17s 6d 0-1 the previous day's level. A fall of 5s took place in 1938 4$ per cent. Inscribed Stock, which was released twice at £95 ss. Banks showed a slight improvement in one or two instances, but New Zealands continued to give way. Business done late on Monday at the unaltered price of 42s was followed with a transaction 3d easier at 41s 9d yesterday. Commercials of Australia unproved a penny in a late sale on Monday, and Nationals of New Zealand, after a lato Monday transaction at the current price of £3 Bs, were done subsequently at £3 9s. Offers for New South Wales weie lifted 5s to £25, but the price remained unattractive to holders. Apart from mining, dealing in other sections was very quiet, the only business being a single transaction in Fukemiros, requirements in whioh were fully satisfied in a deal 2s 6d lower at 27s 6d. Firmer rates prevailed in the mining section for Waihis, which changed hands a penny firmer at 15s 8d and again at 15s 9d. Waihi Junctions were secured 3d easier at 3s 7d, which was offered for more. King Solomons were unchanged at 2s 7d and Blackwaters were done at 2s 3d.
