SEARCH ABANDONED.

NO TRACE OF MR. STANTON. WITHDRAWAL OF PARTIES. [BY' TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THE CHATEAU, Sunday. The search for Mr. Warwick Stanton was abandoned at noon yesterday when parties of bushmen employed under the No. 5 scheme, with Sergeant Sivyer, of Taumarunui, in charge, were withdrawn. There is a possibility that a volunteer party under Mr. Marriner. of l'okako, will continue the search next week-end, but nothing definite is yet, known of his intentions.

Mr. J. Stanton, father of the miss ing youth, who has been staying at National Park, returned to Auckland yes terday.

FUND FOR SEARCHEIiS.

MAYORS APPEAL CLOSES. SUM OF £648 RECEIVED. Subscriptions totalling .1648 16s 2d were received at the Town Hall in response to tlio invitation made to citizens by the Mayor to express appreciation of the services of those who searched for the missing trampers on Ruapehu. The list, was closed on Saturday, after an additional £B7 lis had been received. The distribution of the fund will be in the hands of the. National Park Board, of which the Mayors of .Auckland and Wellington are members, and it is hoped to have the services of certain organisers of the search.
