POPULARITY OF WOOL.
FAVOUR OVER SUBSTITUTES. " We are very glad to notice that wool is coming more and more into favour again with the feminine portion of the population, due to Hie fact that it is not fillv cheaper, hut also to the manner in which manufacturers have grappled with the necessity for producing material which will not irritate a tender skin," says Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., in their animal report. " The very low price of wool has resulted in a severe check to the artificial silk tr;tde, and it, behoves manufacturers to seize the opportunity afforded and do everything possihlo hy research and otherwise to continue the good work of producing articles which can compete with the substitutes forced into being when wool was too high in price. The outlook in this respect, we are inclined to think, is on the whole better than it has been for some time past."
