LONG FLIGHT RECORD.
ATTEMPT BY FRENCHMEN. START FROM LE BOURGET. (Received September 10. 1.15 a.m.) PARIS, Sept. 11. Two French aeroplanes left for Tokio to-day, in attempts to break Messrs. Boardman and Polando's long distance record of 4984 miles, from New York to Constantinople. Messrs. Lebnx and Doret, who crashed on their previous attempt in Siberia last July, took off at 6.12 a.m. in the monoplane Trait d'Union 71. It has a 650 horse-power Hispano engine. Messrs. Paul Codos and Henri Robida took off at 6.17 a.m. in a Breguet biplane, the Question Mark, Captain Coste's famous machine. M. Coty, the wealthy scent manufacturer and newspaper owner, is backing IST. Lebri.w A reward of £BOOO is offered for the recapture of the record. Hundreds of persons, including many in evening dress who had come from the theatres and cabarets, witnessed the start from Le Bourget.
The weather is reported to bo favour able.
