HOLDINGS OF WOOL.
STATE RETURNS ANALYSED. AMOUNT IN GROWERS' HANDS. [by telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON, Friday. The president of the New Zealand Wool Brokers' Association, Mr. Mabin, states that the Government Statistician's recent returns of wool held, include holdings by woollen mills, freezing works, scourers, shipping stores and harbour and railway sheds, amounting to 82,319 bales. The quantity held by farmers and brokers was 181,803 bales.
This, said Mr. Mabin, was all that mattered in considering the carry over of wool in the Dominion. During July and August, 33,684 bales had been shipped, thus reducing tho wool in the shipping, harbour board and railway stores. When all was summed up, the matter that signified was that 181,803 bales of growers' greasy wool was held for better prices.
