PARENTS' GRATITUDE.

TRIBUTE TO HELPERS. MAGNIFICENT RESPONSE. SAVING OF YOUNG LIVES. "NO WORDS SEEM ADEQUATE." [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] THE CHATEAU, Friday. Tho following statement has been handed to tho press:— / "We, tho undersigned parents of tho members of the party who were lost on Mount Ruapehu, desire to placo on record our appreciation of the efforts of all those who in any way assisted in organising and carrying out tfre search. Only thoso who have been at tho Chateau during this difficult time can appreciate the devotion with which each helper throw himself into the task and the energy with which he prosecuted it. Tho magnificent response to the call for volunteers, first from the guests and officials at tho Chateau, and then from expert bushmen from the surrounding countryside, enabled the project to be carried out to the saving of so many young lives. "Included among tho helpers were devoted bands of women, some of whom actually searched, while others undertook the equally important domestic duties of attending to the needs of the searchers and the rescued. "It would be invidious to attempt individual mention. To one and all we owe a debt of gratitude for which no words 6eem adequate. It has proved once more the essential unity which lies beneath the surfaco of human nature. "To everyone who helped in any way we tender our heartfelt thanks which we feel will be subscribed to in equal measure by those parents who have already left the Chateau." Tho communication is eigued by N. E. Addis, F. C. Brockett, W.* H. Graham, D. S. D. Harris, G. N. Morris, D. Rennie, Grace E. Spooner, J. Stanton and 11. H. Watkins.
