MOTORS IN COLLISION.
WOMAN DRIVER FINED. SEQUEL TO PAPAKURA ACCIDENT A plea of guilty to a charge of cutting the corner at the junction of Beach Road and Great South Road, Papakura, on Sunday, May 10, when the car she was driving was involved in a collision with another car, was entered by Mrs. Elsie May Bredin, of Warea (Mr. G. F. McDonald), before Mr. F. H. I/evien, S.M., in the Papakura Police Court yesterday. The driver of the other car, Robert Ernest Wilson, of Taupiri (Mr. W. J. Spring), was charged with dangerous driving. After the hearing of tho evidence for the prosecution, this information was dismissed. It was explained that Wilson had his mother and sister with him in his car. All three were injured, Wilson being in hospital for 12 days after the. collision, and his mother and"sister for several days also. Mr. Bredin, who was in the other car, had his shoulder dislocated. In a statement to the police, Wilson said he was travelling on the Great South Road toward Auckland, at about 30 miles an hour. He noticed the other car coming in the opposite direction. Just as he was about half-wav across the Reach Road junction the other car attempted to cross into Beach Road in front of him. As it was then only about 6ft. away, he bad no chance of avoiding the collision. He was rendered unconscious by the impact, as were also his mother and sister. A fine of £2 and costs was imposed on Mrs. Bredin.
