GENERAL SMUTS TO PRESIDE.

British "Wireless. RUGBY, August 24. General J. C. Smuts reached Southampton from South Africa to-day. During his visit to England he will preside over the centenary meeting of the British Association, which will commence on September 23. The subject of his presidential address is: " The Scientific World: A Picture of Today." General Smuts will also lake part in the sectional discussions 011 the application of science to the problems of Empire agriculture, and on the evolution of the universe.
