SINGLE TASK UNDERTAKEN.
CABINET'S DRASTIC POWERS. LARGE LABOUR OPPOSITION. ELECTION BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Events have moved rapidly in the political crisis in Britain. The names of the members of the proposed National Government -were to be submitted to the King yesterday, and they are expected to assume their duties to-day. Stress is laid on the fact that the new Administration has one object, to effect the urgently required economies in national expenditure, and everything will be subordinated to this end. It is stated that no heads of the spending departments will be in the Cabinet. As quick action is imperative, ordinary bills will not be prepared and submitted to Parliament, but Orders-in-Council will be issued, and the departments will have to obey them. The House of Commons will, it is expected, have little opportunity for debates. As soon as its work is done, the new Government will resign. Parliament will be dissolved, and an election held, probably before Christmas. A strong Opposition group is expected to arise from the Labour Party, with Mr. Henderson as its leader..
