VICTORIA LEAGUE.
RECEPTION TO VIOLINIST.
An afternoon reception in honour of the violinist, Zlatko Balokovic, and Madams Balokovic, was given by the president and members of the Victoria League in the league rooms yesterday afternoon.; Baron Ivjell Fleetwood, who is accompanying M. and Mme. Balokovic on their tour, was also present. The rooms were decorated with vases of daffodils and jonquils, and bowls of ferns and other green foliage were arranged on the window sills, A cordial welcome to the guests was extended by Miss Mowbray, president, who briefly explained to them the aims and ideals of the Victoria League.- M. Balokovic expressed the great joy he felt to be among the Anglo-Saxons,_ who, ha considered, had been more altruistic than any other nation. -He also referred to the depression which is facing New Zealand and the whole world at the present time and commended the people of the Dominion on the splendid courage with which they were facing their difficulties. A very enjoyable musical programme was presented by Miss Kent, which included songs by Miss Mina Xaldow and Miss Nancye "Hanna. Miss O'Leary acted as accompanist. The hostesses were Mrs. R. C." Keeble. Mrs. W. C. Somers, Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, Mrs. D. Ogilvie, Miss Fenton, the Misses Murray and the Misses Slator.
