TRAINING AT TRENTHAM

TWO-YEAR-OLDS AX WORK, SEVERAL PROMISING COLTS. Some interesting work was done by two-year-olds at T'renthmn on Thursday, when the back stretch of the two-year-old track was used. The going was soft,, but was otherwise good G. Jones' pair. Ralanat {Chief Ruler— Cocoanut) and Posy (Chief Ruler—Roaellate). went well over a couple of furlongs. They are among the most forward youngsters at the centre. J. W, Lowe's pair. Sage (Gay Shield — Gloria Nut) and Lord John (Lord Quey.— Bayonne!, sprinted two furlongs in 2Gs and clid their work pleasingly. The English-bred colt Mullaboden iTorlonia—Templeboden), a three-year-old to New Zealand time, and Redtcp (Eedfern — Tulpy)) ran a couple of furlongs together in '23 3-ss. The former is trained by H. Pritchard and has only lately been galloped fast. He has recently been blistered i becanse there was slight sign of a swelling jin the near hindleg. Redtop is a member i of T. Pritchard'a team, at present in charge i of G, Williama.-while Pritchard is in Sydney. ; H. Telford's trio, the Tea Tray—Zany ! colt, the Tea Tray—Ebba gelding, and the j Tea Tray—Lady Violet, gelding, moved ! nicely over three furlongs in 39 2-Sa, after ! doing the first two furlongs in 25 3-ss. The j first-named appeared to be going best at the I finish. | The nest three to sprint were J. McI Laughlin'3 pair, the Pombal—Veil colt andj the Lord Quex —Ayah colt, and A. E. | Browne's Bowland.; (Acre—' Wairiporipo). i The first-named, under a pull, remained' j with the other pair for two furlongs, and | then went on alone to the r.hree-iurlongs I peg, being steadied up because a trestle { was across the course, to register 40 3-Ss. ! The first two furlongs took 26 4-ss, the Pombal colt being in front at the point. It was the first fast sprint that Bowlanda, a well-modelled youngster, had had. but he joined in the job Quite unconcerned. S. J. Reid had Meritor (Limond—Merit) and Might (Limond —Gracicaa). two colts, at the barrier for practice and then gave them a short sprint down the _ back. Meritor, who is a full-brother to Lineage, particularly caught the eye as one of the neatest movers yet seen out on the track this year, and it will not surprise if he proves to be one of Trentham's best youngsters. Like all of Merit's offspring, he is a natural galloper. WELLINGTON CLUB'S YEAR. | NET LOSS OF £5939 SHOWN.
