EUROPEAN VIOLINIST.
Music-lovers in Auckland are eagerly awaiting the performances to be given in the Town Hall by Zlatko Balokovic, tho gifted Croatian violinist. The first recital will be presented on Tuesday evening and there will be concerts on tho following Thursday and Saturday evenings. Writing of Mr. Balokovic's artistry, a Wellington critic said: " Tho opening performance revealed the stranger as one of the most sincere, cultured and refined artists who have visited the Dominion for a decade. Sincerity is his keynote; music to him is something fraught with a beauty that is not to bo taken lightly. Though he played Mendelssohn, Brahms and other famous composers, it was as an interpreter of Bach that he made the deepest impression." For" his first concert Mr. Balofcovic has selected Handel's Sonata in G minor, Mendelssohn's Concerto in E minor, and works by Bach, Brahms, Sarasat«» Kreisler and other composers.
