TEMPERANCE UNION.

A meeting of the Auckland Women's Christian Temperance Union was hold this week, Mrs. Cook presiding. Mrs. Cook called attention to the world's women's annual day of prayer, which was started by a Korean woman and outlined its objects. She invited tho members to join in tho intercessions. A tributo was paid to tho work of Miss Anna Gordon, World's W.C.T.U. president, whose death recently occurred. Delegates were appointed to tho district convention to be held in Auckland on September 8, 9, and 10. An address was given on the inlluenco of tho home on national life and of tho necessity for protection from tho national temptations of liquor, gambling and Sabbath-breaking.
