NAVAL SOCCER MATCH.
PHILOMEL BEATS VISITORS. GAME WITH AUCKLAND TEAM. An Association football match was played at the clock ground, at Devonpoit yesterdny between teams from the visiting Chilean training ship, the General Baquedano. and 11.M.5. Philomel, resulting in a win for the lalter after it fast and interesting contest, by five goals to four. The visitors, who were under the handicap of having had little chance (o practise, played an attractive game, some splendid footwork being witnessed. The impression was received that, had the Chileans been at their best, it would have taken a very strong team to have defeated them. HATCH WITH AUCKLAND. A powerful Auckland team will lie opposed ta the Chilean eleven at Blnndford Park on Saturday, when it is anticipated lbp.l the visitors will reveal something like their true form. The Aucklanders are as follows: Zuill (Onehunga), Mowal (Y.M.C.A.), Williams (Thistle), Brown (Trainurewa), Chapman (Y.M.C.A.), Watson (Thistle), Cu minings (Thistle), Blackie (North Shore), MeLeny (Thistle).
