RATES IN ARREARS.

MOUNT ROSKILL DISTRICT. STEP,- TO SECURE PAYMENT. The Mount Roskill Road Board decided last evening to take legal action against ratepayers in arrears with payment's for certain periods unless the sums owing were reduced. Mr. S. I. Goodall, chairman of the Finance Committee, which recommended this course, said the action was unpleasant but it must be taken as a duty to those ratepayers who were meeting their obligations. The board's solicitors submitted a list of ratepayers against whom judgments for arrears amounting to £750 had been obtained recently.
