AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB. FIRST ROUND IN CHAMPIONSHIP. Members of tho Auckland Ladies' Golf Club played the first round of the club championship at Middlemore yesterday. Following were the results:—Miss C. Moginie beat Miss Macfarlane, 3 and 1; Miss E. Culling beat Miss E. Mahoney, 6 and 5; Mrs, J. Wilson beat Mrs. Rutherford, 5 and 4; Miss Upton beat Mrs. Buttle, 4 arid 3; Miss M. Macfarlane beat, Mrs. Towle, 2 up; Mrs. Henry beat Miss L. Cutfield. at the 21st; Mrs. Henderson beat Mrs. ' Rainger at the 20th; Miss F. Rathbone beat Mrs. Frost, 3 and 2; Mrs. Ferguson beat Miss McGovern, 5 and 4; Mrs. Hughes beat Mrs. Smith, 7 and 0; Miss E. Wilson beat Mrs. Green, 2 up; Miss MacCormick beat Mrs. Robertson, 2 and 1. The first round of the junior championship was also played, and resulted as follows:—Mrs. E. B. Brown beat Mrs. Grant, 1 up; Miss E. While beat Mrs. Campbell, 4 and 2; Miss 11. Asser beat Miss C. Wells, 1 up; Miss R. Hoberton beat Miss M. Russell at the 19th; Miss C. Rainger beat Mrs. Ralph, 3 and 1; Miss M. Graham beat Airs. A. Donald, 2 up. A medal competition will be hold next Tuesday for those not competing in the championships, players to arrange partners. MAUNGAKIEKIE LADIES' CLUB. Following are the .best scores returned in tho medal handicap match played by the Saturday players of the Maungakiekie Golf Club:—Miss F. Gregson, 95. 19—70; Mies I Hutson. 100, 22—75; Miss E. D. Gregson, 105 , 27—78. , . , . _ A medal handicap match with sealed conditlons., will be held 011 Saturday, players to choose their partners. . • The championship matches will be Played next week, commencing on Tuesday with the qualifying round, and the first round ol tho senior and junior events. A medal handicap match will be played in conjunction. The second championship round with a bogey handicap match will bo played on Wednesday. Partners will be drawn on both days.
