Mr. HutchinSon remarked that the work would keep about 50 men engaged for probably two months. In a report presented to the board, the engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, said he saw no objection to the proposal of the City Council to 'take a small area of land oil tho shoro of Hobson Bay to be used in the new road connection between Shore Road and Orakei. The question was referred to tho Financo Committee, which will make a decision on tho maintenance requirements. ' ■ A request from tho Naval Department for a reduction in the charge made for tho supply of electric flower at the Calliope Dock was granted, the engineer pointing out that the department should benefit from tho higher rate of discount now allowed by the Waitema'ta Electric-Power Board. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, the board decided to effect insurance to tho amount of £20,000 on the new port building.
