RATEPAYERS' COMPLAINTS.

MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH.

FORMER COUNCIL CRITICISED. A request that the Mount Albert Borough Council should take act-ion in connection with an alleged breach of the Municipal Corporations Act by the former Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, was contained in a letter from the Momingside Ratepayers' Association received at a meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening. The letter referred to payments by the former council in which Mr. Rhodes was allegedly interested. The Mayor, Mr. W. F. Stilwell, moved that in view of a letter received from the Auditor-General saying that the. department was not moving in the matter, the council take no action. The motion was carried.

The council decided to ask the association to present a statement outlining its constitution and showing how many of the ratepayers of the borough were on its membership roll.
