WOMEN'S COMMITTEE.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD.

An increase in membership and a satisfactory widening of activities was shown in the report of the Auckland Women's Committee of the New Zealand Political Reform League at the annual meeting, which was held in the Reform rooms, Southern Cross Buildings, yesterday afternoon. The president, Dr. Hilda Northcroft, presided. The report stated that a women's branch had been formed in Rotorua and a women's.committee in the Parnell electorate. A credit balance of £3 was shown in the balance-sheet.

In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet Df. Northcroft said she did so for the last time as president of the committee and thanked the "members for the loyal support they had given her. She congratulated members on the fact that the women's committee had handed the sum of £6l to the central committee for the general organisation of the Keforrn Party in Auckland. Appreciation of the work done by Dr. Northcroft for the women's committee was expressed by Dr. Buckley Turkington on behalf of the members. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Dr. Buckley Turkington; vice-presidents, Mrs. G. H. Wilson, Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, Mrs. W. S. Russell, Mrs. P. J.\Crump; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. E. A. Smythe. A letter from the Dominion secretary was read by Dr. Northcroft, asking for an expression of opinion from the women's committee as to the advisability of holding a Dominion conference. A resolution that a Dominion conference should not be held this year was moved by the president, and was carried unanimously. A resolution to the effect that " The constitutional method of nominating candidates be adhered to," was also passed. M An address on " Speech Technique," was given by Mr. Russell Wood, who stressed the importance of the cultivation of good diction, not only on the public platform but also in daily intercourse.
