THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. BUSINESS AT LOWER LEVELS. Trading covered a fairly wide range of miscellaneous investments on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when slightly easier value's predominated. Support for Government loans was sustained for all lines, but offers for tax-free per. cent, bonds and stock eased 5s to £9B 355. New Zealand Breweries debentures advanced 9d with a transaction at 225. Some improvement occurred in banks, but the movements were only slight and the group was devoid of business. New Zealand Insurance eased 5d with sale at 41s 4d, and South British were available 5d easier at 50s lOd. Buyers offered 50s 9d. Loan and Agency were quiet, New Zoaland and River Plates were done at 22s 9d, this being the first sale this year, and recorded a fall of 5s 3d on the level of tlie hist sale in Auckland. Firmer rates existed for Auckland Gas, which changed hands 3d better at 23s 6d without fully satisfying requirements. Devonport Ferries were marked down Is in a deal at 19s 6d. New Zealand Breweries wcie. also secured at easier rates, sales taking place at 33s ,3d and 33s 6d. Support for general investments remained weak. A buyer returned to the market for Colonial Sugars, for which an offer of £33 10s attracted a selling quotation of £34 10s. A rise of 6d was registered by Milne and Ghoyce debenture stock, which was released at 19s.

Activity in mining shares was centred in King Solomons,, which were traded freely on a lower basis ranging between 2a 9d and 2s lOd. At the close of last weok business was done at 3s Id. Firmer support was accorded Waihi Grand Junctions, for which sellers asked 2d more at 3s lid."
