BEAUTIFYING ROTORUA.
GREAT SCOPE FOR WORK. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.! ROTORUA, Wednesday. A meeting of the Rotorua Beautifying Society, presided over by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, was held to hear the views of Mr. F. Tschopp, landscape architect, wiho has been engaged by the Borough Council. Mr. Tschopp said there were great possibilities for work by a beautifying society in Rotorua. The town lent itself to beautification. Expert planning was essential as a foundation. Once this was .determined correct details could more easily be settled. Speaking generally, he urged the principle of planting native trees and shrubs, and wherever possible evergreens wore preferable to deciduous trees. Residential sections could bo given a better appearance by the removal of unsightly fences. Plans 'of the layout that he had recommended in parts of New Zealand were exhibited.
Tho Mayor invited a representative of the socioty to confer with the council and Mr. Tschopp.
