THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. INTEREST IN GOLD MINING. - Dealing in gold mining shares formed a large part of the business on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Other sections of the market were fairly quiet. The whole range of Government loans commanded firm support, and offers for a few were lifted but sellers withdrew from the market.

0 Although dull, banks closed a little > stronger. Commercials of Australia im--5 proved following the dividend announce- : nient, and were taken 2d firmer at 14s, x which price was forthcoming for more. J Nationals of Australasia were done equal to late levels in the South at £lO Is, and i. £lO was vainly offered for further sup- '* plies. A further recession of 2s 6d was registered by New South Wales, which were released at £24 10s. Firmer inquiry was made for Unions, buyers raising their limits 5s to £6 lis; Sellers asked 3s more than the previous day at £6 16s. 3 Australians of Commerce also gained / strength. In insurance New Zealands '- were disposed of Id better at 41s lOd, - with a subsequent transaction at 41s 9d. Movements were slight in other sections t and there was little alteration in inquiry, t Gear Meats changed hands 4s 3d lower - at 255, the transaction being the first'that 0 has taken'' place on the Auckland Ex--I change since April. ] Active trading in Waihi Grand Junc--1 lions at firm levels was the feature of . trie mining group. Business opened Id . firmer at 3s 7d, which represented an advance of 6d since the end of last week, and 'sales followed at 3s 6d, 3s and 3s 7d. Waihis were , done Id lower at 15s 6d. King Solomons sold unaltered at 2s 9£d, and Mahakipawas were a shade easier at 7d.
