REDUCTION IN SALARIES.
WELLINGTON CITY STAFF.
LOWER PAID MEN EXEMPTED

A 10 per "cent, reduction in the salaries of Wellington City Council employees has been made as from July 1, with the provision that those of married officers with dependants shall not be reduced below £2OB a year. Salaries below that amount are not to be affected. No special increases from grade to grade will bo granted this year. Another resolution passed by the council was that salary" increases be granted to those officers receiving less than £2OB a year, with the provision that in no case should the salaries affected exceed £2OB after the application of the 10 per cent, reduction.
The council decided that the 10 per cent, cut should not apply to certain allowances above the regular wages granted to some outside employees.
